Zanzibar is an iconic archipelago off the coast of Tanzania, known for its vibrant history, white-sand beaches, and rich cultural heritage. The island offers a blend of Swahili culture, ancient stone towns, and turquoise waters that are perfect for leisure sailing, diving, and exploring local marine life.
Zanzibar has a tropical climate with two main wind seasons—the Kaskazi (northeast monsoon) from December to March and the Kusi (southeast monsoon) from June to October. The winds are moderate, providing a steady and enjoyable sailing experience.
Be aware of tides and strong currents, particularly around coral reefs. Navigational charts are essential. Ensure your yacht has proper anchoring equipment when near the island, as some areas may have coral formations.
