Location overview

Pemba Island, part of the Zanzibar Archipelago, is often referred to as “The Green Island” for its lush vegetation. Pemba is more remote and less developed compared to Zanzibar, making it ideal for serene sailing. It’s a diver's paradise with abundant coral reefs and marine biodiversity.

What to know:

Pemba's waters are deeper and more pristine. The northeast and southeast monsoons also affect sailing here. The best time to sail is between June and September when the winds are mild.

Safety requirements:

Pemba’s coastline is more rugged, with fewer harbors, so ensure you have enough provisions and fuel. Beware of the strong tidal currents and sharp coral reefs.
